Ever Feel Like You Read TOO Many Monthlies??

I'm starting to get the feeling that i might read TOO many monthlies. I mean, sometimes i sit down with an issue and can't remember what happened in the previous issue (or get it confused w/ a totally different book). I've gotten into the habit of reading the previous issue real quick before i read the new issue when it comes out (hitting them back-to-back).

Sure makes me appreciate the trade/GN for what it's worth - the story is packaged into a single reading (or at least over a few sittings w/i short distance of each other). I always seem to buy the trades of books i really liked (even after i've bought and read all the collected floppies), and it's amazing how much i realize i missed reading the issues month-to-month.

But to be honest maybe it's not the gaps in between, it's that i'm reading a billion floppies a month ;)

I hear ya man, I have a stack of monthlies I have yet to get to, but what I started doing is still buying them up, but I put them to the side and then read them all at once ( maybe 2 days )...I did that with the latest Az/Jim Lee Superman: For Tomorrow arc and it was great to just read the full story through...I of course usually have to do this when the wife is out shopping with her sister.

It does work great with mini-series like Green lantern: Rebirth, or a specific writer/artists run.

I keep on re-reading stuff. Every new issue I get, I pull the rest of that arc, and read everything up to that point all over again.

Takes a while, but I get a lot more for my dollar that way ...

My to-read pile has been getting out of hand lately as I've not been able to read as much as I was, but I'm still buying as many, if not more, comics than ever! Except for a handful of titles, Marvel's about to lose me to the "wait for trade" approach, and mainstream DC, thanks to their slow turnaround on TPBs is about to lose me completely.

Mark - that's pretty much what i've been doing too... but re-reading keeps me from my new reading so my pile grows and grows... there really is a lot of quality out right now IMO so everytime i consider i might cut back - there's no where to cut ;)

funny how they get us though - $3 an issue then i buy the trade when it comes out too... no worries.

Heck, my too-be-read pile is actually a short box; and it frequently overflows...

THat doesn't even count the number of trades I haven't read. Plus everything that the library owns...

I need to quit my job in order to have enough time to read all of my comics. Of course, then I wouldn't have any money to buy new comics...
