Powers v2 #14

After a ho-hum start to the new arc w/ issue #13, #14 picks up the pace. The biggest development is the beginnings of an IA investigation of Deena. Early interrogations take place in the "green room" so you just know IA is suspicious about Deena's new-fangled powers (of which supposedly no one knew). IA's questions almost exclusively surround Deena's dead ex (who she 86ed and unceremoniously buried a few issues back when he tried to attack her in her apartment).

Good stuff. Can't wait to see where Bendis takes this one that's for sure... As an aside it's worth mentioning that Oeming does an awesome job w/ the interrogation panels (i love how creative he is w/ his layouts). Glad he's still putting mad effort into Powers even though he's got tons of other cool projects (writing especially) going on at the moment...

Elsewhere (that's such a great "comic" word isn't it? "Elsewhere..." or "Meanwhile..." Gotta love it) in this issue, Walker and Deena continue the investigation of a mysterious power who turns out to work for an elite group of galactic avengers called the Millennium (i think). The Milennium assign a galactic superhero to each quadrant of each galaxy (or some breakdown or another) to protect it from inter-galactic threats.

Hmmm... Anyone read Invincible? This seems cribbed right from Kirkman! But no worries - i like the idea so gots me no problem w/ it :)

Much better issue than last - and i'm a bit rejuvinated overall. Cool beans. B+.

It was all over when...

Zilla is not my real name.

I'm from Tejas living in VA. I'm married w/ 2 dogs. I'm an IT security consultant cranking the wheel for a big consulting firm in "real" life.

I watch the History Channel, Nat'l Geo, TLC, Mil Channel, ESPN and NFL Network, CourtTV (forensic files, etc.) and the Cartoon Network (love Genndy T's Samurai Jack and Clone Wars Adventures). My taste in movies: Gladiator, Last Samurai, Braveheart, Godfather, Tarantino (whatever), Kung-Fu (whatever), Westerns, Top Gun, Big Lebowski.

I love the outdoors and bs'ing around w/ my dogs.

In addition to being a comics junkie, i'm also a sports junkie especially when it comes to the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.
