RK's Ultimate X-Men?

I missed the first Robert Kirkman written Ultimate X-Men issue... anyone around here read that willing to give me the poop on it? Should i put that title back into my bag?

I picked up RK's first issue, figuring I enjoy everything else he writes so why not. I thought this first issue was pretty good, but I'm not a regular reader of Ultimate X-men. However, I do read X-Men and Uncanny, and I have to say even with little to no action this issue was entertaining. I have been contemplating dropping the other two titles, so I may just switch to Ultimate. The only reason I was reading those two titles was when I first came back to reading comics about a year ago, they were the only thing I was familiar with. They really haven't impressed me at all.

dude we have a lot in common man... i started back into comics about a year ago too and went about it the same way (bought up all the old titles i used to dig on - many of which seem to be no good anymore unfortunately).

i was reading ultimate x-men for a while but i ditched it just a few issues ago... but i'm a HUGE kirkmaniac so i was figuring i'd be back on when he started w/ it... does it seem promising at all?

I'd recommend it - I grew up reading Uncanny (btw - I am enjoying Deadly Genesis - sort of feels like the old stuff). Don't read it anymore. I love Invincible and Walking Dead, and I read Ultimate X-Men for awhile, so I picked this one up. Felt like a Kirkman comic to me (that is to say, I enjoyed it). The only thing I worry about is that he can't really seriously mess with the characters like he does in his own books. I guess that means his skill as a writer (without the shock value) will have to take over.
